Rom victim of police brutality again!
The action takes place in Teplice, Czech Republic. A video of one witness recorded a man dying in the street during the intervention of three police officers. At times, all three guards of public order and peace sit on a man with their weight. One of the policemen knelt for six minutes and pressed his knee against the neck of the man who died shortly afterward. Even after the man stopped showing signs of life for four minutes, the policeman continued to "intervene" on the man who was lying motionless.
The Czech administration backed the police's actions after a video appeared in public of a member of the security forces in the town of Teplice kneeling on the shoulders and neck of Roma Stanislav Tomáš, who later died.
We, as a movement, strongly condemn the excessive use of force by all institutions, especially the police, which in the case of the Czech Republic is not the first case when the police abuse power. The attack on Roma children in a summer camp led by Roma musician Ida Kelarova and the death of Roma in police custody at a pizzeria in Žatac are prime examples of police hostility as an institution towards the Roma community in the Czech Republic.
